He wanted to be with someone and he hated the fact that he had to remain celibate. It was causing him to have heart problems and health conditions. I had to sit down and talk with him. He was 41 years old at that time and he was never in a relationship. He never dated in college or high school and he was married to the church since the age of 18. He told me that he was not happy. He owned a house, boat, car and a dog. He loved his home and he claimed that he was tired of being alone. He didn't want to be by himself anymore and he felt that God was calling him to be with someone. He did not know how he was going to date, but he thought that I had the right idea. I told him that he must first find his true self and if it's God's will, he would have to meet someone in order to find his happiness. He realized that God wanted all of us to be happy and to have a companion in this lifetime. Celibacy is a calling that many people force them self into. Celibacy is a gift from God and not everyone can live a celibate life.

When my priest friend found someone to date, he thanked me because he realized that he was happier with someone than alone. He realized that although he was a priest, he could not be celibate or alone anymore. He realized that he could not leave the Catholic Church because of his vow and now he has found a way to have a relationship with someone and to love God at the same time. He does not feel guilty that he is involved with someone, but he feels happy knowing that the Lord has provided him with a companion that loves him.

Many times society will put a hold on your life, but you must understand that God does not want us to be alone. He created us for love and for companionship. When we violate our love for God and fail to have a companion, we must realize that our life will be put on hold. Any material possession that you buy or have will not make you happy. You have to share it with someone. I know many great chefs whom no longer cook exotic meals or savvy dishes because they feel like they are only cooking for themselves. They don't want to cook a gourmet meal for themselves, but they want to cook it for the people that they love.
