Single parents can have a hard time dating because they usually put their kids first - which they totally should. However, they also have to take their needs and wants into consideration. When give advice on dating for parents, I always say that they need to make their needs important as well. Whether you're divorced or have never been married, it's a great time to start trying to find that special someone.
Dating for parents can be tough. There are many things to consider. Do you want your new date to meet your kids? Should you tell your kids about your new partner? I think it's a good idea to date someone for a while before introducing them to your children. Make sure you really know the person before bringing them to meet the kids.
Single parents dating can also be difficult because many people don't know whether to tell their ex about the new situation. I advise you to eait a while for divuldging information about your new date to your ex. Also, make sure you leave your kids with someone you trust when going on dates. Leave an emergency number for your baby-sitter to reach you at, as well. Be careful not to start dating so much that you neglect your kids. You also want to make sure that your kids like the new person in your life. Too often you see people end up with someone that the kids hate. It's important that there is a mutual respect between the person you're dating and your kids.
