Human sexuality comes out in many different ways. We often try out our sexuality in the teenage years. Sexual experimentation is considered to be normal in our American psychic society. However, if you read the Bible, the scripture doesn't believe in sexual promiscuity. Isn't it ironic that we all sometimes fall into what we know to be wrong? The sexual part of ourselves often wants what our emotions and feelings do not. It almost seems like we are controlled by another force. It seems hard to imagine that Jesus can free us from sexual addiction. He can "break our chains" us if we are willing.
We leave ourselves open to sexual promiscuity when we are single and lonely. I can tell you that we all can fall into this type of sin and condition if we are not careful. I know that prayer alone isn't enough. It's more than that because we are expected to live with our actions after we have asked God to make us obedient unto him.
Men have strong sexual urges at different times in their life. I can tell you from example that there are times when men don't get horny and there are moments when they feel that they need to "get laid." I'm sorry that I had to put it bluntly like this, but I want to be as direct with you as I can. We are all human and I'm sure that you understand where I'm coming from.
Guilt and shame can lead us further and deeper into sin. If you hang onto guilt because of a sexual act that you committed, it will only tear you down. Don't you know that Jesus has forgiven you already? Jesus never said that he wouldn't forgive you, but he did acknowledge that sin would hurt us.
Sin hurts you in the sense that we feel attached to our psyhcic sins once we have committed the act. We usually go through the stage of asking ourselves, how could I have done such a thing? Know in your heart that Jesus will forgive you if you ask him to and you don't have to live with guilt to show the Lord you're sorry for what you did. Shame causes us to feel bad about ourselves. It makes us ashamed to be around good people. If you find yourself asking if you measure up to another person, then it's because at some point in your life, you did something to feel less of a human being than another person. The more sin that you commit in the same area, the more attached to it you will become and you will have trouble dealing with it.
