Ten years ago, I was with another prophetic friend of mine. He told me that a spirit guide by the name of Saint Gerard Majella was around me and he had something that he needed to tell me.
I always believed that there were spirit guides around us, but when I was told that I had one and that my prophetic friend felt that his name was Saint Gerard Majella, my mouth dropped. As first I was a skeptic like many people out there would be. However, when I get a psychic reading, I always take the word and pray about it. I asked God to show me his will through this prophetic word. If I was meant to learn something from it, then I would learn from it.
My prophetic friend told me to go home and to light a candle. I did light a white candle because he said that this candle was more for peace and for love. He also told me to light the candle once a day and to ask Gerard to come to me. I did what he told me to do because I was curious to find out if a spirit guide would actually come to me through a candle lighting ritual.
I did nothing fancy except a 3 minute prayer and a lit candle. However, this small ritual would set the stage to what I found to be the most impactful spiritual journey of my life. Gerard began to speak to me through many signs. I would ask him to help me and he did. He sent me secret messages through other people. It's not that they did something crazy or weird, but instead they would say something like, "do you need to buy a candle?" This may not sound weird to you. However, in the 1990's I was not one to light candles in my house or even go out and buy them. To have someone tell me to buy a candle was really weird for me since I never purchased them before and they told me to do so within a week after I started lighting a candle for Gerard. I told myself, wow! This stuff really works.
When I went back and told my prophetic friend about this, he was happy that I took his advice and really connected to my spirit guide. I was happy to have tested this spirit because I now am in the habit of lighting candles everyday.
I learned that it's important to never let a spirit guide take the place of God. However, these are helping spirits that assist us in our daily walk to help bring us closer to God. I encourage you to test your own spirit guides and ask God to allow you some way to meet them. I best learned mine by lighting a candle and asking them to come to me. It also helped that a prophet told me who my spirit guide was. When I called upon him to help me, he helped me and he pulled his energy into my life to teach me that he was always there watching over me. It's hard to say why God allows spirit guides to help us when he is right there for us. However, God has always used angels and people to touch the lives of those around us. We can learn best about spirit guides through our own prayer life. Learn to listen to God each day and you will be able to visualize your own path in life.
