Some Facts about Tarot Card Decks You Might Not Have Considered
Did you know that there are a plethora of different tarot card decks currently in circulation? Even as they contain the standard 78 cards which in turn house the 22 cards of the Major Arcana, their looks are different and in some cases the feel they offer the user is also vastly different from that which other decks might offer. Granted, no matter what the individual cards look like, they are still utilized to help with the connection of the subconscious and the conscious and as such they are affirmative tools for solving life's problems and even taking a glimpse at the future.
It is another fascinating bit of lore that suggests that newcomers to the craft should not purchase their first set of cards as new, and thus there are a number of stores that offer tarot card decks which have been gently used already. In some cases they are even antique and as such offer not only beauty and the previous handling, but they are also connected intimately to another time and epoch. Some are so old that they need to be handled carefully with gloves while others are still new and crisp, even though they are sold as used sets.
Tarot card decks vary even by faith. The typical Rider Waite deck employs a lot of Christian symbolism and is interspersed with representation and imagery that a Christian and even a Jew will quickly recognize. Conversely, there are decks that are set up for the use by Voodooiennes and others of that religious persuasion and thus they are carefully and lovingly crafted with all the Voodoo symbolism in place. Although it dies not really matter which kind of deck is used, the fact that some decks uniquely appeal to a person because of their religious background needs to be taken in consideration when opting for the one you might use for yourself.
As tarot card decks continue to be printed and designed, the meaning of the individual card never shifts; instead, it is the rendition of the Major Arcana and in some cases also the display of the Minor Arcana that are being altered. The relationship between the two has not experienced a shift and it is highly unlikely that this will ever occur. As tarot reading classes are plentiful, the overall wisdom with respect to the cards continues to be taught while the individual expression is taken out of the equation.
